• An Artist's Guide to September 11 Relief Efforts
• A Non-Profit's Guide to September 11 Relief Efforts

November 2001, 29 pages (artist's guide), 19 pages (nonprofit's guide). The New York Foundation for the Arts, 155 Avenue of the Americas, 14th floor, New York, NY 10013, 212-366-6900.

These guides were prepared for the New York City Arts Coalition on behalf of the New York Arts Recovery Fund, a collaborative partnership of New York City arts service organizations. The project is administered by the New York Foundation for the Arts. The guides result from a determination to find a rational way to compare the choices being faced by artists and nonprofit organizations who need assistance from the impact of September 11. A plethora of information exists on Web sites and in various printed materials, but these guides compare the various options.

“Since right after the disaster, we have sought to determine what types of assistance would be available to nonprofit groups and to artists. We encountered dedicated people, very eager to help, but limited by the regulatory systems within which they work. That situation has been further aggravated by a constantly changing landscape, some of which comes from the enormous desire to assist, some of which is inherent in the circumstances of this disaster.”
