MacArthur Foundation Announces New Grant to Establish Documentary Film Project

The John D. and Catherine T. MacArthur Foundation announced a new investment in documentary film with a four-year, $5 million grant to the International Documentary Association (IDA) to establish the IDA Documentary/Journalism Project. The IDA Documentary/Journalism Project will support production and development grants to nonfiction filmmakers taking on in-depth exploration of contemporary stories through a journalistic lens; and support, mentorship, training and access to resources for both grantees and the broader field.

Podcast #50: Black Arts Funding In 2023

Grantmakers in the Arts hosted the first GIA Black Arts Funding Summit in December of 2022. This virtual gathering of 113 artists, arts administrators, and funders allowed attendees to acknowledge and understand the long histories of exclusion, disenfranchisement, and disendowing in the philanthropic sector. One year later, we are continuing the conversation with two funders and elevating new considerations after one year.
