Resources Available To Artists and Arts Organizations Facing Flood Recovery Efforts

(5-19-10) The Tennessee Arts Commission has received numerous reports of damage caused by recent flooding in West and Middle Tennessee. The Commission will offer any assistance possible, by making information resources available to artists and arts organizations affected by this disaster. The contact person at the Commission is Hal Partlow. He will be fielding questions, collecting information about specific situations, and directing constituents to appropriate resources. Partlow may be contacted at 615-532-9801 or email. Another valuable resource is South Arts in Atlanta, who manages through their Web site, Arts Ready, a service providing preparation and recovery information. From Arts Ready:

How can you help those affected by flooding in Tennessee? Here are two ways: You can make a contribution to CERF+'s Disaster Relief Fund to assist any craft artist who has suffered losses in a disaster (TN floods included) or you can direct your contribution to members of TACA (Tennessee Association of Craft Artists) by making our check out to the TACA Fund at CERF+, www.craftemergency.org. Mail to CERF+ (Craft Emergency Relief Fund + Artists Emergency Resources), PO Box 838, Montpelier VT, 05601-0838. And, in partnership with Davidson County's Office of Emergency Management, The Community Foundation of Middle Tennessee has activated its Metro Nashville Disaster Response Fund to help to those affected by the May 1, 2010 floods. Donations of any size are welcome. Grants from the fund will support relief and restoration in the Davidson County area. www.cfmt.org/floodrelief
