This anthology is a collection of reflections based on a multi-year lecture series presented at Stanford University. The lectures fo-cused on the purpose, accountability, and practices of philanthropy in the 21st century. The collection explores the purpose of giv-ing and the issues inherent to the disposition of private wealth, and questions the overall role and accountability of philanthropy in society, and the function of donors, foundation leaders, and grantmakers.
