Meet the Bloggers: Bree Davies

Bree Davies

Bree “Coco” Davies is a multimedia journalist, urban planning professional, arts community advocate and organizer born and raised in Denver. Rooted in the world of do-It-Yourself arts and music, Davies co-founded Titwrench experimental music festival, created and produced Fem Fest for MCA Denver, has consulted on Youth On Record’s feminist-centric programming and is host and producer of the music and comedy-focused weekly show, Sounds on 29th on CPT12 Colorado Public Television. At the center of this work is a passionate advocacy for all ages, accessible, inclusive, non-commercial and autonomous DIY art spaces and music venues in Denver.

Parallel to a decade-long practice in arts and organizing, Davies has also cultivated a career as a reporter, writer and longtime critic and columnist for Westword. This work currently finds Davies at the intersection of art, city planning, affordable housing advocacy and a behind-the-scenes position in municipal politics. She created the Hello? Denver? Are You Still There? live podcast to explore these topics, was the Press and Communications Sorceress for the Kalyn 4 Mayor 2019 Denver mayoral campaign and regularly utilizes social media as a means to engage people in actions and solutions around neighborhood-level issues like affordable housing, predatory real estate, and the gentrification and displacement of rooted culture and community.
