COUNCIL ON FOUNDATIONS RURAL FUNDING CONFERENCE: ONCE AGAIN NO ARTS OR CULTURE

When do you think that COF will catch on that arts and culture are part of the solution?

The Council on Foundations, in partnership with the Rural Funders Collaborative and our Arkansas philanthropic community, is convening this second gathering of rural philanthropic leaders to address and highlight the needs rural communities face and develop the next steps for addressing them. Your knowledge of rural America and your work in your community is needed to develop the strategic vision of how we might move forward through a public-philanthropic partnership in rural America. This is a gathering of your peers and you should be a part of it. We hope that through our gathering in Little Rock we might achieve the following:

  • Develop strategies that demonstrate opportunity and impact from rural investments, rather than the historic approach only focused on need.
  • Work with other funders imbedded in rural areas to develop a national effort to get rural opportunities back on the foundation and government agendas.
  • Develop specific plans of action to enhance philanthropy’s role in promoting the 4 E’s (Education, Economic Development, Energy and Environment).
  • Form an action alliance of rural-based and serving funders to carry the work forward.
