Cultural Organizing Community of Practice with Midwest Academy & The Highlander Center
In partnership with Midwest Academy and The Highlander Center, Grantmakers in the Arts invites you to join the Cultural Organizing Community of Practice, a learning space that will explore principles of cultural organizing through the work of artists and cultural organizers. Together, participants will discuss how grantmakers can engage in and fund cultural organizing to advance influence campaigns and build long-term power for systemic change across grantmaking, public policy, and beyond.
This Community of Practice will meet for 90-minute monthly discussions from January through August 2026.
Commitment:
We ask that participants commit to attending all sessions (see dates below).
Who should join:
This series is designed for GIA members and member-eligible grantmakers who are interested in deepening their understanding, practice of and support for cultural organizing.
Group participation:
Multiple people from the same organization are welcome to register.
Capacity:
Workshops typically accommodate around 30 participants
This community of practice will meet for 90 minute sessions each month. Each 90-minute session will be held from 10:00am - 11:30am PT | 1:00pm – 2:30pm ET
