Wallace Alexander Gerbode Foundation Announces Leadership Change

Thomas C. Layton, president of the Wallace Alexander Gerbode Foundation for the past 38 years, will retire effective at the end of 2013. Mr. Layton will assume the title of President Emeritus. He will be succeeded by Stacie Ma’a, the Foundation’s Vice President and a staff member for the last 14 years.

“We have been extremely fortunate to have had Tom’s leadership over all these years,” said Maryanna Stockholm, Board Chair. “We could not be more appreciative of the critical role he has played in furtherance of the foundation’s original intent and its inherent values. Tom’s past receipt of the Council on Foundation’s Scrivner Award for Creative Grantmaking is only one of the many external validations of his effectiveness that our board knows so well.”

“My association with the Foundation, its board, its staff, and its extraordinary program and grantees has been a privilege, a joy, and an ongoing education,” Layton said. “As difficult as it is to leave I know that it is time to make way for a new generation of leadership. Stacie Ma’a is ideally suited to provide that leadership.”
