Web Conference Today: Building Collective Capital
Today’s GIA Web Conference, Building Collective Capital: A Funders Collaborative Approach to Capitalization, will be held at 2pm EDT / 11am PDT. Tere Romo from the San Francisco Foundation and Shelley Trott from the Kenneth Rainin Foundation will present a process undertaken by program officers from family, corporate, and community foundations as well as a city arts commission towards a unified and complementary approach to capitalization.

The Passing of Claudine Brown
Grantmakers in the Arts mourns the loss of Claudine Brown, who passed away on March 17, 2016. Brown worked most recently as assistant secretary for education and access at the Smithsonian Institution and served on the GIA board from 1996 to 2001, including as board chair in 1999-2000. She also created the social justice working group whose efforts led to GIA’s racial equity initiative.

Request for Proposal: Racial Equity Research
GIA invites interested and qualified firms to submit a proposal to conduct quantitative and qualitative racial equity research. This research will examine current giving practices of GIA members to Asian, Latin@, African, Arab, and Native American (ALAANA) artists and arts organizations. Deadline for proposals is April 8.
