Conference To Explore LA Arts Community
The GIA 2015 Conference will offer over 20 opportunities to get out of the hotel and see what is happening around the Los Angeles cultural community. From preconferences at Paramount Pictures Studios and Maker City LA, to stops on the Cultural and Community Tour, to offsite sessions at the Boyle Heights Arts Conservatory, Japanese American Cultural & Community Center, HOLA, and The Frog Spot, conference attendees will have a number of opportunities to get into different neighborhoods and explore. And we can’t forget dine-arounds as well as dinner at the Museum of Contemporary Art and a private viewing at The Broad Museum… If you're attending the conference, we hope you'll discover something unexpected.

Web Conference Presents the Annual Research Snapshot
The September 29 Web Conference, GIA’s Annual Research on Support for Arts and Culture, will look at the latest data from Foundation Center and NASAA in the arts funding snapshot. Web Conferences are free for GIA members. You must register to attend.
NEA Celebrates 50th Anniversary

Earlier in my career, I was privileged to work across sectors with passionate and gifted artists. In most instances, the connection with the non-arts organization (hospital, correction facility) was made by my organization. But the creation of the service to be delivered was designed and always implemented by these amazing artists. You might define them as “teaching artists,” as Eric Booth does in his article in the 2015 fall issue of the Reader. These artists, and thousands like them across the country, are a combination of teacher, professional artist, creative problem solver, and community activist.
