Jazz at Lincoln Center Director to Step Down

Adrian Ellis, the executive director of Jazz at Lincoln Center, has told that organization’s board he will step down in early January.

“I’m coming up on five years,” he said in an interview. “I’ve had an absolute blast. Maybe I’m sort of restless.”

Mr. Ellis took the helm of Jazz at Lincoln Center in the fall of 2007 and steered the organization through a critical period as it tried to adjust to its explosive growth after a move to a new $131 million home at the Time Warner Center on Columbus Circle. He has proved to be a steady hand at the wheel, shoring up the organization’s finances, leaving it free of debt and expanding its presence abroad.
