PNC Foundation Lends Support to Pre-K Program in Science and the Arts

(6-7-10) At the end of May, PNC Foundation announced a $2.1 million investment to establish science and arts summer school programs for underserved preschool children in Detroit public schools. The funding comes from PNC's signature cause, Grow Up Great, a ten-year, $100 million initiative to enhance early education and school readiness. From the foundation's press release:

PNC's commitment leverages the experience of the Detroit Science Center and the Music Hall Center for the Performing Arts to create new programs in preschool teacher training, add activities to enhance the arts and sciences curriculum of the Detroit Public Schools' pre-k program, and engage parents in their children's learning experience.

Partner institutions will provide opportunities for PNC employees—PNC Foundation receives principal funding from the PNC Financial Services Group—to volunteer in support of the programs, a hallmark of Grow Up Great.
