Based on data from ten large/small collaborations supported by the Community Partnerships for Cultural Participation Initiative, funded by the Wallace Foundation between 1998 and 2002, this report chronicles their successes and challenges. While the majority of both the small and large institutions report that they gained from the partnerships, differences in scale, management style, institutional culture, and resources created difficulties. Their experiences are consolidated into practical suggestions that will be of value to potential future partnerships.
