These two complementary guidebooks are the work of the New York State Artist Workspace Consortium, a group of ten residency programs working together to define and improve their field. Both books, while focusing on visual arts programs, were intentionally developed to be adaptable for use by other disciplines. The guide for organizations will be useful for those contemplating starting a residency program as well as for those managing established programs. Together, the two books also provide a snapshot of the requirements for a successful residency program that will be of value to those who fund such organizations.
